 Union Spotter Truck Mechanic- Railyard Intermodal Maintenance Services, Joliet, Illinois Company: Intermodal Maintenance Services Job Type: Full-Time, Union Position Local 150 Union Benefits Position Summary: Intermodal Maintenance Services is seeking a dedicated Union Spotter Truck Mechanic to join our team. This position will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of spotter trucks operating in a busy railyard. As a vital member of our team, you will ensure the safe and efficient operation of our fleet to keep the railyard running smoothly. Key Responsibilities: Perform regular preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs on spotter trucks and related equipment in the railyard. Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues with spotter trucks, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems. Complete repairs and replacements of faulty components, ensuring high-quality work is delivered in a timely manner. Conduct testing and inspections on vehicles to ensure compliance with safety standards and operational efficiency. Maintain accurate maintenance logs and records for all repairs and service work performed. Work closely with the operations team to ensure minimal downtime of the spotter truck fleet. Adhere to all safety and regulatory guidelines in the railyard environment. Work within a unionized environment, following all relevant union protocols, rules, and agreements. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent (preferably with technical or vocational training in mechanics) Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a mechanic on heavy trucks. Strong understanding of truck and heavy equipment systems, including hydraulics, electrical systems, engines, and transmissions. Ability to use diagnostic tools and software to troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues. Must be able to work safely in a busy railyard environment and adhere to all safety standards. Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment. Ability to lift and move heavy parts and equipment. Effective communication skills and the ability to convey complex technical information to customers clearly and understandably.
