Position Summary: Intermodal Maintenance Services seeks a dedicated Union Spotter Truck Mechanic to join our team. This position will be responsible for maintaining and repairing spotter trucks operating in a busy railyard. As a vital team member, you will ensure our fleet's safe and efficient operation to keep the railyard running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities: Perform regular preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs on the railyard's spotter trucks and related equipment. Diagnosed and troubleshot mechanical issues with spotter trucks, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems. Complete repairs and replacements of faulty components, ensuring high-quality work is delivered promptly. Conduct vehicle testing and inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards and operational efficiency. Maintain accurate maintenance logs and records for all repairs and service work performed.
Work closely with the operations team to ensure minimal downtime of the spotter truck fleet. Adhere to all safety and regulatory guidelines in the railyard environment. Work within a unionized environment, following all relevant union protocols, rules, and agreements.
Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent (preferably with technical or vocational training in mechanics) Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a mechanic on heavy trucks. Strong understanding of truck and heavy equipment systems, including hydraulics, electrical systems, engines, and transmissions. Ability to use diagnostic tools and software to troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues. Must be able to work safely in a busy railyard environment and adhere to all safety standards. Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment. Ability to lift and move heavy parts and equipment. Must be willing to work flexible hours and be available for on-call duties as needed. Local 150 Union Benefits.
